Volunteer Opportunities

Help make Barre a better place by volunteering on a city committee, task force, board or commission.

The City is currently seeking members to fill vacant and expiring terms on all of the bodies listed below.  To see a list of the vacant and expiring terms, please click here

If you are interested in serving, please submit a completed Volunteer Form by 4:30 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.  Completed forms can be:

Note: You do not need to physically “sign” the application form, typing your name on the fillable form is acceptable.

Volunteers currently serving on these public bodies who (1) have expiring terms and (2) are seeking reappointment must also submit applications.

Interested applicants will be required to attend a Council meeting for a brief interview with members of the Council to discuss their interest in the public body to which they applied.  Council meetings occur every other Tuesday at 7:00 PM in-person at City Hall and via Zoom.  A schedule of upcoming Council meetings can be located here

Applicants are encouraged to attend a meeting or speak to the chair of public bodies they are interested in joining.

*The Buildings & Facilities and Cemeteries, Recreation & Conservation Committees will initially have more than 9 members as a result of the committee re-set approved by the City Council on March 28, 2023.  These committees will shrink to 9 members through attrition via resignations and removals.
